This year the “Bridges” series will be laying particular emphasis on the great musical cultures of the planet, hosting Ono-Gagaku-kai, one of the oldest Gagaku groups from Japan.
In collaboration with
the Embassy of Japan in Athens and the Japan Foundation
Ritual music and movement, unique costumes, a mystical atmosphere – all transporting us back 1300 years in a rare musical spectacle, back to the birth of Gagaku, designated by UNESCO in April 2009 as part of its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Ono-Gagaku-kai ensemble was founded in 1887. It has kept alive the old art of Gakaku through performances in Japan and all over the world.
