FRIENDS OF MUSIC SOCIETY – EVENTS AT MEGARON

Actor and director Renos Charalambidis and tenor Yannis Christopoulos unveil, through words and music, the work of unjustly obscure poets and composers of the Greek urban culture, mainly form the interwar period. Long-forgotten poets who ‘seem to have stolen through the literary milieu and life itself’: Yannis Aidonopoulos, Petros Dimas, Minos Zotos, George Karatzas, George Kotzioulas, Alexandros Baras, and Yannis Chondroyannis among others. And composers, both lyrical and representative of their time, like Vassilios Theofanous, Georgios Kazassoglou, Lavrendios Kamilieris, Timotheos Xanthopoulos, Emilios Riadis, Dimitrios Rhodios, and Alekos Spathis.

‘Like a holy offering… a ballad for the inglorious poets’, in the words of Kostas Karyotakis, another ‘minor’ poet who got the recognition that he deserved, though posthumously.
