Twenty young artists –third-year students at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire– attempt an approach to the essence of the text in our present times.

A Polis, in other words a group of citizens, narrates the end of its Royal House and, triggered by this, it essentially converses with the concept of the law, identifies it with the common interest and, thus, defines and shapes its own political system – Democracy. Giving first place to the “chorus” –the Polis– as the principal character of the play, the actors personify on stage all its faces, “narrate” them and defend them by drawing on their own nature, which is that of a group of young people. They attempt to discover their own, contemporary theatrical language, while at the same time preserving the integrity of the structure of this work, which is emblematic for the Western culture.
