Having been deprived for such a long time of the vital physical contact with the public, the Athens State Orchestra is anticipating with great emotion its opening concert of the new artistic period. Its artistic director, Lucas Karytinos, conducts two symphonic masterpieces of Romanticism – Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder (“Songs on the Death of Children”) and the magnificent First Symphony by Brahms, and also pays tribute to the work of one of his predecessors, the acclaimed composer Yannis Ioannidis, performing his work Metaplassis.
