In the context of the activities related to the Bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821, GesamtAtelier’s founding duet Kyriaki Nasioula and Argyris Angeli participate in the debate on the way in which individual experiences and the collective identity of a land are interwoven. In collaboration with a group of young artists, they draw inspiration from the folklore and the traditions of Greece, studying the loom as a tool producing hand-made works and social conditions. They perceive the woven fabric as a carrier of history, a canvas on which universal and personal patterns of life take on colour and shape. Testimonies, materials and bodies come together, composing a collective biography. This mixed-media performance combines variable constructions with contemporary dance, speech, sound synthesis, interactive video projections and the spectators’ engagement.
