rince Siegfried is seduced by his alter ego, the Evil Genies, and is led to the shores of a mysterious lake. There, he meets the most beautiful swan, Odette, and swears eternal love to her. In the castle, the prospective brides try to seduce him, but the only one who poses a threat to his oath to Odette is Odile. The enigmatic woman-swan has been turned into a legend by Tchaikovsky’s masterful score, while the Lake is the all-time favourite classical ballet production. Prima ballerina Olga Smirnova, sensual as the black swan and heart-breaking as the white one, leads the cast in a performance that stands as the perfect model of the dramatic intensity and unparalleled beauty that choreographed movement can have.
