Although it is not often that we get to enjoy the French horn in the soloist’s role, in this concert our audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the ethereal beauty of Strauss’ Concerto in a reading by one of the world’s leading horn players – the German Stefan Dohr, principal horn of the great Berlin Philharmonic. His compatriot Frank Berman, a maestro with whom the Athenian public is already familiar, will lead the musicians of the Athens State Orchestra in a performance of Stravinsky’s neoclassical masterpiece “Dumbarton Oaks” and Schumann’s imposing “Rhenisch” Symphony.
