A route across the Mediterranean, from Cyprus to Spain, and from the Middle Ages to the present day. Songs of folk tradition or others influenced by it, musics and words that keep within them and carry across the ocean of time the imprint of human existence. The works to be performed include Ravel’s Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques (Five traditional Greek songs), de Falla’s Siete canciones populares españolas (Seven Spanish Folksongs), Greek songs by Ioannis Konstantinidis, Italian baroque arias, as well as compositions by Tasos Rosopoulos to lyrics by an anonymous 16th century Cypriot poet.
