Traditional Spanish music, proud but also sensitive, with its characteristic sharp accents and strong verve, has always held an exotic appeal for composers both in Spain and abroad. Bizet’s legendary opera Carmen, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Spanish capriccio and Rodrigo’s ethereal Aranjuez Concerto are some of the great scholarly works deeply imbued with the spirit and style of Spanish music, cherished by audiences worldwide. The newly formed Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra and its rising conductor Dionysis Grammenos welcome as soloist Belgium’s Anneleen Lenaerts, Principal Harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic and one of the world’s leading harp soloists.
