Leonidas Kavakos returns to Megaron, inviting with him some of the most accomplished representatives of the younger generation of Greek soloists. They are a group of a select musicians who often work together and have already developed close artistic bonds. Kavakos and his distinguished company invite us on a two-day tour of the formidable chamber music repertoire, aspiring to illuminate its different elements and highlight its breadth. The journey begins with three consecutive duos —for violin, viola, cello and piano, featured in an equal number of combinations— at Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall, whose warm acoustics will bring out in the best possible way the different sound colours and the eclectic affinities between the four performers. In the same acoustic ambience, the musicians will join forces for Dvořák’s Quartet in E-flat major, opus 87. For the second evening, we transfer to the great Christos Lambrakis Hall: this is where the cycle will draw to its imposing close, with all the soloists on stage to present two milestone works of the romantic repertoire — the iconic piano quintets by Schumann and Brahms.
