The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is Italy’s oldest festival and one of the oldest in Europe. Apart from consistently attracting the world’s finest artists, its Orchestra has been recognized as one of the best in Europe. Danielle Gatti, the Orchestra’s principal conductor, will be at the podium for its two concerts at Megaron. He is a living legend whose profound interpretations have won the highest praise in the world’s major concert halls and lyrical theatres. Standing out from the programme’s famous symphonic works is Ravel’s immortal Boléro, together with Beethoven’s Olympian Fourth piano concerto, in which the soloist’s part will be performed by Rudolf Buchbindet. A true champion of Beethoven’s oeuvre for the piano, Buchbinder has devoted his entire life to the great German composer, studying, performing and recording his sonatas and concertos countless times.
