The Megaron Organ – 30th Anniversary.

Megaron’s celebration of the completion of 30 years since the construction and inauguration of the organ at Christos Lambrakis Hall opens with the recital of the great organist Olivier Latry. A formidable, internationally renowned virtuoso, Latry has been one of the four organists at the church of Notre Dame de Paris since he was twenty-three years old and today he is regarded as one of the world’s most imaginative improvisers. Stunningly accurate transcriptions, soul-stirring original works and one improvisation, all of them highlighting the French soloist’s unmatched artistry and the inexhaustible sound palette of Megaron’s organ, which was built by the leading German organ-building firm Klais and is expected to shine in all its glory in tonight’s concert.
