“…. since Your Royal Highness has honoured me, Your humble servant, by commissioning works of my own composition […] I took the initiative, in accordance with Your Highness’ noble instructions, to perform my humble duty by composing the concertos that I have created for various instruments…”. His Royal Highness Christian Louis, Margravine of Brandenburg, had the unbelievable good fortune to be remembered simply as the recipient of the above dedication by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1721 for the six concertos that became known as the Brandenburg Concertos. Three hundred and more years later, we have the opportunity to enjoy a host of top international-class soloists in these six masterpieces, with George Petrou’s radical vision and the authentic sound of the renewed Camerata ̶ Friends of Music Orchestra.
