The fullness of the human voice, its harmonic richness and expressive power are qualities that are highlighted through the masterpieces of international a cappella art. Without the accompaniment of instruments – that is what the term a cappella means – the leading male vocal ensemble ΜΕĪΖΟΝ and the famous female vocal group Equábili join their voices for the first time and unravel the thread of a musical tradition that has its roots in the sacred polyphony of the Renaissance and extends to the musical genres of the 20th and 21st centuries. In the concert’s outstanding program, which includes works by Palestrina, Vittoria, Pärt and Kodály, the transcendence of hymns, the contrasts of counterpoint composition and the poetic realism of secular music constitute a delightful confession of faith in the uniqueness of the human voice.
