The Male Choir  of St. Petersburg was founded by the eminent Russian musician Vadim Afanasiev, who wished to revive and continue the tradition of the “Deacons” Choir established by Tsar Ivan the Terrible in the 15th century.
The Choir’s repertory includes religious music, works by major Russian composers (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, etc.) and popular Russian folk songs.
