Works by Manolis Kalomiris (songs from various song cycles and periods, arias from operas and works for piano) will be presented alongside compositions by his contemporaries, friends and other musicians by whom he was influenced (Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Edvard Grieg, Sergei Rachmaninov, etc).
This specially dedicated concert marks the fiftieth anniversary of the composer’s death and is the première of an international programme aiming to focus interest on the music of this founder of the Greek national school, the inspiration of many Greek classical composers.
The works will be performed by two artists from the Netherlands: the Greek-Flemish soprano Christiana de Waele accompanied by the Russian pianist Eleonora Semionova.
