Three festive concerts, transporting us to the fabulous world of Christmas in Vienna
The Friends of Music will once again be inviting the famous Johann Strauss Ensemble and violinist Russel McGregor to bring the spirit of Christmas to Athens. The festive concert will feature all the composers of the Strauss family, with the finest waltzes, polkas and popular dances of the Viennese tradition.
The Concert Hall stage, adorned with flowers, will resound to the melodies and rhythms of the much-loved music of Vienna, with two soloists from the Vienna Opera Ballet dancing to the Strauss family’s enchanting waltzes.
The Johann Strauss Ensemble of Vienna was founded in 1985 by outstanding musicians from Austria’s Bruckner Orchestra. It very quickly acquired an international reputation, with tours of the major cities of Europe. Since 2003 the orchestra has been directed by violinist Russell McGregor.
