THE FRIENDS OF MUSIC SOCIETY – EVENTS AT MEGARON, THE ATHENS CONCERT HALL

The Friends of Music Society is organizing a rare musical “coming together” of top names, with four outstanding players of “folk” clarinet music representing four different generations.
A concert paying homage to the great masters of the Greek “folk” clarinet and their art, as featured in the classic recordings from the Inter-War years which became a point of reference for subsequent generations.
Petro-Lukas Chalkias, Nikos Filippidis, Giorgos Kotsinis and Alexandros Arkadopoulos in concert present the specific techniques of playing which created the different “schools” of the instrument. These distinguished musicians play selected pieces from the “classical” repertoire, which constitutes the legacy of each of the old masters, including Nikos Karacostas, Kostas Karayiannis, Kitsos Charisiadis, Costas Giaouzos, Giannis Kyriakatis, Nikos Relias, Giorgos Anestopoulos, Charalabos Margelis and Mitsos Batzis.
