GREAT ORCHESTRAS – GREAT PERFORMERS | VIVE LA FRANCE

The Vive La France cycle is supported by L’institut français de Grèce

Superstar pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, who captivates audiences wherever she appears, and had enchanted us in 2011 with her performance as a Rising Star, plays Rachmaninov’s famous Piano Concerto No. 2 in the first of two concerts of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
With an eighty-year-long presence in European concert halls, with its members equally at ease with classical works and great Romantic compositions, but also contemporary music, the Orchestra has collaborated with the greatest conductors of our time.
In the second concert, Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand will be performed by internationally acclaimed Greek pianist George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, whose performances are ‘special enough to be beyond comparison’ (BBC Music Magazine, Adrian Jack), even if we ‘consider celebrated recordings of Horowitz, Argerich, Brendel and Zimmerman’ (Gramophone, Bryce Morrison).

– Hector Berlioz:  Béatrice et Bénédict (Overture)
– Maurice Ravel: Concerto for the Left Hand
– César Franck: Symphony in D minor
