GREAT ORCHESTRAS – GREAT INTERPRETERS

The collaboration between the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, and its founder Sir Neville Marriner has been among the most productive in international discography. In recent years, acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell and celebrated pianist Murray Perahia have acted as Music Director and Principal Guest Conductor, respectively. Turkish pianist, conductor, and composer Fazil Say joins the Academy on a European tour with a programme that ranges from Mozart’s First Piano Concerto, composed at the age of 11, to Fazil Say’s composition Υürüyen köşk [The Moving Villa], dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who moved a house in order to save a plane tree.

– Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 1 in F major, KV37
– Dmitri Shostakovich: Chamber Symphony in C minor, Op. 110a
– Fazil Say: Υürüyen köşk
– Béla Bartók: Divertimento for String Orchestra, Sz. 113, BB 118
