Using our great composer’s familiar melodies as a basis for the plot, director George Valaris creates a contemporary Beautiful City—a unique musical, a tribute to Mikis Theodorakis more than half a century after the premiere of the legendary performance in the summer of 1962.

Theodorakis’ own poetry, prose texts written by George Valaris—about such issues of human existence and Greek society as love, emigration, death, and the Greek identity—and the composer’s all-time favourites unite in a modern audiovisual show with contemporary choreography and a minimalist video-art aesthetic.
