Young soprano Christine Daaé sings the role of Marguerite in Gounod’s ‘Faust’ at the Paris Opera House. A nobleman courts her, but the Phantom of the Opera, the ghostly creature that dwells in the underground dungeons of the opera house, and will become Christine’s ‘Angel of Music’, abducts the young singer, claiming her love and threatening to blow up the building.

The silent horror classic based on Gaston Leroux’s thrilling novel, directed by Rupert Julian and starring Lon Chaney, is screened here to live accompaniment by Martin Baker, Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral, and internationally acclaimed for his skill in organ improvisation.
