Megaron the Athens Concert Hall is hosting for the fifth consecutive year the Animegaron International Composition Competition as part of the Bridges Series of events, in collaboration with Animasyros International Animated Film Festival + Agora. This year, participants are invited to compose music for the animated short film “Ahead” by Ala Nunu, who is also a member of the Competition’s Jury.

Every year, the large number of submissions from Greece and abroad demonstrates the strong interest of artists –younger ones, but not only– for film music and even more for animated films, which offer great freedom for imagination and compositional creativity. Last year’s competition was very successful, with more than 160 participants. The prize winners were hosted in the Greek Animation Association (ASIFA Hellas) pavilion at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the world’s major animation film event.

The members of the Jury, in addition to Ala Nunu, the director of “Ahead”, will be Nikos Kypourgos (composer), Yanni Lolis (creative director), Dimitris Marangopoulos (composer, in charge of the Bridges Cycle events) and Fofi Tsesmeli aka DJ Fo (DJ, journalist).

The film, scored with the 10 best musical compositions that the Jury will select, will be presented on Megaron’s social media pages on the day on which the Competitions results will be streamed online (Wednesday 4 May 2022). The three Animegaron winners to be selected from the 10 participants to be shortlisted by the Jury, will receive prizes and will be supported with a diverse range of promotional activities. Moreover, the 25 soundtracks to win a distinction in the Competition will be posted on Megaron’s YouTube channel.
