It is with regret that the Staatskapelle Berlin and Daniel Barenboim announce the cancellation of tour with the Beethoven cycle to Paris, Athens and Vienna which was planned for November 6-22. Despite the enormous efforts of all involved, it has unfortunately proven impossible to carry out this tour in the current situation, not least because of the complex situation involving travel to three countries, each with different travel and quarantine regulations due to COVID-19.

The Press Release of the Orchestra stated: “We very much hope to be able to play the concerts at the respective venues in the future. At the moment, we are doing everything we can to continue to realize as much culture as possible for our audience in Berlin.”

Despite setbacks at the start of the 2020 – 21 season, Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall, is committed to bringing high quality cultural events to its audience, within a safe environment.

The season opens today with a recital of the internationally acclaimed pianist Martinos Tirimos, who will be playing Beethoven in honour of the 250 years anniversary of his birth, in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall.
