The 9th Athens World Poetry Festival of the Poets’ Circle literary organisation begins on Sunday, September 24, with the screening of the documentary film “Poetry finds you”. Fifteen Greek and foreign poets, sitting at a table, give low-voiced readings of the poems they love. Actors recite verses, pouring wine into the poets’ glasses, while at the same time the melodies played live complement the festive atmosphere. An evening full of words, sounds, verses, music, movement, videos. It’s always time for poetry, not just at poetry festivals. Because poetry is not a lesser art, but the melting pot of human language. At the 9th Athens World Poetry Festival, we will hear languages of many nations, listening closely to the planet’s concerns.
