In every one of his appearances, violinist Antonis Sousamoglou, concertmaster of the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, proves not only his consummate virtuosity but also his remarkable artistic resolve, as he applies himself to exploring lesser-known areas of the repertoire and deepening his knowledge of them. He always comes up with memorable interpretations of the great classic works of the established repertoire, such as the Sonatas by Schumann and Brahms, as well as of and works of “special specifications”, such as the sensitive Fantasy by Christopher Theofanidis, a deeply lyrical and personal work. His companion on the piano in this recital is Stamatis Vlachodimitris, one of the finest young pianists in the country, who has excelled in his studies in Europe and America and has garnered first prizes in panhellenic and international piano competitions.
