The idea of the evening started from a 1958 recording where famous bassist Cesare Siepi performed twelve of the greatest hits of the famous American composer and songwriter Cole Porter. Most of the songs to be heard belong to this collection – and are some of the most famous songs written by Porter – the composer of My Heart Belongs to Daddy, I’ve Got a Kick Out of You, but also the father of Kiss me Kate, Can Can and many famous American musicals, as he is the one who launched what is now known as the “classic musical” of the 1920s and 1930s. Porter, composer and lyricist of love songs par excellence, lived an intense life mainly in Paris, hence his frequent references to the city of light.
