After his successful years abroad as a leading member of the MusicAeterna Orchestra, well-known Greek virtuoso percussionist Dimitris Dessylas makes a dynamic comeback to the Greek music scene with a demanding recital, in which he plays both solo and in duet with leading piano soloist Vassilis Varvaressos. The concert’s programme features fascinating works for percussion composed over the recent decades by thriving composers, such as the Pulitzer Prize winner Jacob Druckman, the Greek-born New Zealander John Psathas and the always topical and “provocative” Iannis Xenakis.

The two artists have to push themselves to the very limits of their virtuosity, imagination and expressiveness, interpreting works of vibrant dynamism, uncommon timbres and tempestuous rhythmicality, which demonstrate the inexhaustible potential of percussion instruments.
