The young soloist Dimitris Soukaras combines in his programme the old with the contemporary, melancholy with brilliance, contemplative expressiveness with virtuosity. His selections compose a musical landscape rich in narratives, alternating between three different versions of the guitar: the romantic, for the lute transcriptions of works by Dowland and Bach; the classical, for the works of Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Asencio; and the electric, for Leo Brower. With fine studies at the Royal Academy of London and years of apprenticeship alongside great teachers, the award-winning guitarist and composer combines the sweeping vigour of his age with a deep knowledge of an instrument that belongs to more musical worlds and always excites the imagination for new creations, such as Brower’s work “The Oracle Circle”.
