Two different sides of Brazilian music in one evening. The Greek soloist, with a substantial discographic and concert hall presence, introduces us to the ‘classical’ aspect of Brazilian music through guitar works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Egberto Gismonti, Paulo Bellinati, Radamés Gnattali, Edino Krieger, and Sérgio Assad.
After the recital by Nikos Zarkos, a concert of the Greek ensemble De sol à sol: sounds and melodies of Brazil, with an emphasis on the choro [cry, lament], the first genuinely Brazilian genre of urban popular music, rarely performed.
