The appeal of jazz to classical musicians is constantly renewed with the passing of time, driven by novel approaches to interpretation. Anastasios Pappas belongs to the pianists who, beyond their masterful readings of purely scholarly works, flirt with the jazz idiom and are attracted to that particular area of the piano repertoire where the classical and the jazz sound meet and interact. This evening’s programme is dedicated to works of dual origin and inspiration, in which classical aesthetic accuracy meets with the improvisational vitality of jazz.
