A contemporary look at the Liturgy through the work of Dimitris Marangopoulos and Steve Dobrogosz, with the ERT Chorus.

– Dimitris Marangopoulos: Like the Deer that Yearns for Running Streams [Psalm 41]
The composer sets to music extracts from what is perhaps the oldest Mass of the Alexandrine tradition, attributed to Saint Peter’s disciple, Saint Mark the Evangelist (1st century). The balance between Byzantine melodic lines and modes, and atonal environments, the presence of the lyra, the sounds of electronic instruments, the violin and the trombone in the midst of the Chorus-Choir, attempt to express the atmosphere of an early Christian liturgical rite.

– Steve Dobrogosz: Mass
