His playing has been hailed as radical and his performances have been described as an experience that goes beyond the concert. Award-winning Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe represents a new generation of performers who are drawn to transgression and experiment with the hybrid nature of a music without limitations. In his multi-dimensional programme, Shibe bridges the medieval mysticism of Hildegard von Bingen with the minimalist motifs of Steve Reich, and the anti-static perfection of Bach with the eclecticism of Thomas Aedes, who composed his first solo work for non-keyboard instrument especially for the young virtuoso and his Rising Star tour. Sean takes to the stage of the Christos Lambrakis Hall with two guitars: the timbral richness of the acoustic guitar and the evocative power of the electric interact in such a way that each enhances the other in a delightful condition of sonic symbiosis with the only limit being imagination.

Every year the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) selects young artists of outstanding merit to perform in ECHO member halls. Since 1995, the European Concert Hall Organisation, through its Rising Stars programme, has helped to promote the emergence of now well-known artists on the world music scene. in addition to highlighting rising stars, the aim of the programme is to promote respect for diversity, inclusion and the strengthening of social ties. In this context, the Rising Stars’ recitals are accompanied by educational activities, workshops, visits to social structures, etc.

This year, in cooperation with El Sistema Greece, Sean Shibe visits a Controlled Temporary Accommodation Facility for Asylum Seekers in Attica (09.03) and Sebastian Heindl welcomes the children at the church organ of  Megaron the Athens Concert Hall (10.03). Furthermore, Mathis Stier gives a bassoon masterclass (10.03) and the Sonoro Quartet organises a mentoring workshop with the strings of El Sistema Greece’s intercultural symphonic Youth Orchestra (10.03).
