The music and songs that marked a milestone film in the history of Greek cinema are presented at Megaron forty years later. Along with twenty musicians, singers and chanters, Stavros Xarchakos brings us the emotion, the light and the charming darkness of the orchestral works and songs he wrote for the iconic film Rebetiko, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. As then, the great Greek composer chooses voices with experience and special colour, giving the lead to his orchestra. Together, they compose a rebetiko ensemble, transforming the stage of Megaron into a modern rebetiko place, and revealing to us how a timeless work continues to evolve, to pioneer and to express the depths of the human soul.
