In the four lectures of this year’s cycle, distinguished experts shed light upon the ‘Athens Trilogy’: a dynamic initiative on the part of the responsible bodies and the DIAZOMA Association, aiming at the planning and materialization of an innovative programme for an ‘Integrated Territorial Investment for Attica’. This programme is based on the concept of restoring the connection between the ancient city of Athens and the Eleusis Sanctuary, the Lavrion silver mines, and the seaport of Piraeus.
In the last lecture of the series, Andreas Kapetanios will show us around the ancient silver mines of Lavrion, a technological miracle of antiquity. Finally, Nikos Belavilas will talk about the remarkable history of the Lavreotiki district and the Lavrion Mines during the 19th and 20th centuries.
