GREAT ORCHESTRAS – GREAT CONDUCTORS

The Orchestra has been booked thanks to the generous support of a Greek from abroad,
who wishes to remain anonymous.

For the third consecutive year, the Megaron is hosting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with its star conductor Zubin Mehta. The first concert consists of music by Beethoven, with the unique Leonidas Kavakos as the soloist in the Concerto for Violin. The second concert will feature music by Schoenberg, Mahler and Dvořák. The Songs on the Death of Children will be sung by the young Greek baritone Aris Argyris, already much in demand on the international operatic scene.

– Arnold Schoenberg: Chamber Symphony no 1 in E major, op. 9
– Gustav Mahler: Kindertotenlieder
– Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World,” Op. 95, B. 178
