The rare Taskin Chinnery harpsichord, courtesy of Elise Barbessy on loan to the Friends of Music Society, is now on display at the Lilian Voudouri Music Library. It is a unique harpsichord which was made in 1991 in the Cinnery workshop in Tuscany by Tony Cinnery, who specializes in historical keyboard instruments. These instruments are exact replicas of historical musical instruments and are widely used in concerts and recordings by distinguished soloists. Some can be found in museums such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of Musical Instruments at the University of Lipizzaner and the Galleria dell’ Accademia in Florence. The Music Library’s Tuscan Shinnery harpsichord is available to professional harpsichordists and is being presented to the Athenian audience for the first time.
