Marika Klambatsea – pianist, soprano and composer – is well known for her work in classical forms as well as her vocal free improvisation. The Herald Tribune described her work as “reminiscent of both Maria Callas and Janis Joplin”.
Following a visit to the concentration camp at Dachau, Marika Klambatsea has put together a collection of songs written within the camps. It is a musical journey which evokes some of the most tragic moments in human history, using as a metaphorical theme the trains used to transport millions of victims to the Nazi camps where they would meet their deaths.

– Works by Kurt Weill, Gustav Mahler, Henryk Gorecki, Nikos Harizanos, Marika Klambatsea, Aleksander Kulisiewicz, Yiddish songs and Steve Reich’s “Different Trains”.
