Whether she was a real person or she existed in the composer’s imagination only, Beethoven’s Distant Beloved is the main subject of his opus 98, which shares the same nostalgic and sombre mood with Schubert’s Swan’s Song. In this evening’s recital, dedicated to Lieder, Dimitris Tiliakos and Yannis Tsanakaliotis also interpret Dichterliebe, Shumann’s major song cycle, which sets to music poems by Heinrich Heine.
